News report In-person meeting October 2024 On 5 October, we gathered in Utrecht for the national meeting. We discussed how we can involve more academics and researchers in our activities, and planned the actions for the next months: during the National Climate Week of 11-17 November, we will have a program of actions that can be taken individually and in your institute. Opinion Letter about demonstration rights The Dutch House of Representatives recently accepted two motions that seek to limit the access to university campuses for people without official institutional affiliations. Around the same time, several Dutch politicians made statements that betrayed disturbingly authoritarian attitudes towards participants in campus protests. We find these developments deeply worrying, as they threaten academic freedom and the democratic right to protest. Therefore, we have sent a letter to the Minister of Education, Culture and Science and other politicians.

Opinion Call to Members of the House of Representatives: Take Climate Seriously Scientists4Future wrote an open letter to all members of the House of Representatives with an urgent call to pay particular attention to the long term regarding the major problems we are facing, including climate change. The Netherlands needs a policy that is sustainable for more than four years, and that incorporates a vision of the country and the world that we, as well as our descendants, can live with. And a policy that is fair to all people.
